‘Red Racer’ ISA by Central City Brewing

I’m taking another crack at Central City Brewing, this time it’s the ISA. I’ve actually tried pretty much their entire lineup, and nothing really got my attention. This brewery gets a ton of attention and love, which is far more than can be said for the rest of the city. Surrey has a bit of a… reputation. Probably all the junkies, dealers, gangbangers and prostitutes.

Why didn’t they have a Christmas play in Surrey?
The couldn’t find three wise men and a virgin.

Welfare put to good use, as usual.

“Wake up, wake up, wake up it’s the 1st of the mooooonth.
To get up, get up, get up so cash your checks and get up.” Bone Thugs N Harmony ‘1st of tha month’

This horribly ugly can pours a clear light amber, with minimum carbonation and small lacing. No head to speak of with a tiny collar, and very mild clouding. The aroma is a nice, powerful mix of grass and pine.

The tastes are grass, dough, saltines, and strong dank resin, with a distinct pine finish. It’s a very sharp taste and somewhat overpowering for a ‘session’ ale. Not particularly balanced at all, it weighs heavily in the hop end.

The mouthfeel is medium and crisp, and leaves a pine aftertaste on the tongue. Good amount of carbonation.

Bad amount of carbonation.

2.5/5 This is, again, not for my taste buds. I’ll not be revisiting Central City Brewing anytime soon. Not to mention, fuck Surrey.

An artistic rendering of how all of BC feels about Surrey.
